During the COVID pandemic, we were approached to create a respiratory protective solution for the speech and language therapy teams at Alder Hey who's work was severely hampered due to their use of traditional RPE. Initially tasked with just creating a few sketches, mocked up ideas were proved out using readily available materials, with the aim to prove that face coverings didn't have to be uncomfortable or prevent effective communication. This project necessitated dozens of iterations and prototypes, all created in-house and under severe budget constraints. The mask was taken into production in Summer 2021.

The mask in use. Although not a true FFP3 mask, the ability of the design to capture airborne droplets while maintaining a clear view of the user's face was the driving factor behind the project. The BrillianSee mask was put into production in Summer 2021
